As a staple in the Volkswagen lineup, drivers and passengers alike have come to love what this crossover provides, and if you've never driven one, we're sure you'll love it too. If you wish to learn more about the Atlas and what it offers for the 2025 model year, continue reading or visit our Bedford dealership.

What’s New for 2025?

Last year, the Atlas underwent a full redesign. This year, only mild changes have been introduced. For starters, three new colors are available: Mountain Lake Blue, Avocado Green, and Pure Grey. Bentleyville and Chagrin Falls shoppers will also find a new vehicle software called Car-Net that offers a voice assistant powered by ChatGPT. There are also new features for the SEL Premium R-Line such as a perforated headrest, four-way adjustable lumbar support, and a front-seat massage function.

Design

Though there's new tech, the appearance of the Atlas hasn't changed. The exterior is as large and stylish as ever. While the family-friendly interior with its straightforward layout remains, there is a definite improvement in cabin materials. The model's three rows of seats can comfortably accommodate up to seven adults, and the cargo area has enough space for four carry-on bags with all the seats up.

Trim Levels

The new Volkswagen Atlas is available in four trim main levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, and SEL Premium R-Line. A sub-trim called Peak Edition is also available for the SE with Technology and SEL trim levels.

Performance

In every new Atlas, there's a 269-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 273 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive to deliver an improved throttle response and an increased tow capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Fuel Economy

When tested, the EPA found the new Volkswagen Atlas to be quite efficient. The Atlas got around 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway with front-wheel-drive. Meanwhile, all-wheel drive models drop those estimates to 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Technology

Every trim of the new Volkswagen Atlas comes with a fair number of features to keep passengers well-connected and entertained. Standard on every model is a 12.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also six USB-C ports, wireless phone charging, and a six-speaker sound system. Also, as mentioned, most 2025 models will feature vehicle software called Car-Net to offer voice assistant powered by ChatGPT. However, this feature does require an active subscription.

Safety

As you're driving through Beachwood or down the highway, the Atlas will ensure you have a safe trip thanks to its bevy of standard and optional advanced driver-aids. Every model offers features like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keeping system. Higher trim offers front and rear parking sensors, a head-up display, and a surround-view camera system.
